Does streaming longer equal more money? What is the right time to stream for? Here we answer these and other important questions to help live streamers get the most out of their time in front of the camera.

Intro into the Best Live Stream Length

Why do most people stream? You can ask one thousand streamers and get one thousand answers, but they essentially boil down to two main reasons. People are either looking to connect, or looking to make money.

Does it work? As of this writing, it’s been phenomenal for many people around the world! As a sign of its efficacy, streaming is poised to become a $184 billion industry by 2027.

While most sites have more than enough information explaining what kind of equipment to buy, or what sort of topics to stream about, it seems that nobody is answering the question that everyone is asking: how long should you stream for?

So let’s dive in and answer this important question. Additionally, we’re going to go over these important subjects as well:

  • Why the right Live Stream is ideal for creating connections
  • How Stream Time relates to making money
  • Unique data on stream time based on the popular Tango streaming app
  • How to overcome obstacles that stop your from streaming longer
  • Turning Live Streaming into a living

Connecting on Live Stream

It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that social media was the newest thing. Today, social media is so popular that it’s actually strange to meet someone who doesn’t have an account on at least one social network. Social media does have one major flaw however:

It doesn’t really create deep and honest connections.

Sure, it’s still a great way to share information, connect with old friends, and spread news – both personal and global. However, social media doesn’t allow strangers to connect in a way that allows for a real friendship to develop and blossom. Let’s let comedian Tom Segura explain just how important those deep connections really are:

“‘Are people the same everywhere?’ No. Some places suck and they have ******* people. I just gave you a sociology degree
Here’s one universal truth about people, though. This one is true, and that is that everybody just wants to connect. It doesn’t matter where you go, or what language you speak, people just want to connect.” -Tom Segura

The Success of the Live Stream

Where social media fails, live streaming succeeds. Streaming gives everyone a chance to meet people and develop real friendships and relationships with them. A lot of that has to do with the power of LIVE!

Going live means that things are more authentic, that people are communicating in real time, and that nobody has a chance to perfectly form and curate their answers to make them sound smarter or wittier than they really are. You’re getting a real person. Live and uncut.

Like every relationship between two people, it takes time and the right chemistry. In order to build those relationships and find the people who you like and like your stream, you need to keep the camera on for longer. Think of it like fishing, the longer you’re fishing, the better the odds you’ll catch something.

Make Money Streaming Live

It’s no secret that the internet provides endless avenues for anyone to make a full time living, and streaming is yet another proven way to earn. The difference between earning money streaming live vs something like setting up a YouTube channel is that you can start making money right away.

Seriously, from the moment you open up your phone and start your first stream you can actually make money right then and there. YouTube requires that you first have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time in the last 12 months before you earn a single dollar. We’re not just picking on YouTube either, most online opportunities are like this. Not streaming though.

In order to take advantage of those streaming benefits you need to be streaming for the right amount of time. That leads us to our next question:

What is the Right Amount of Streaming Time?

Streaming Time vs Money Earned

According to our research at Tango, the streamers who made the most amount of money in July 2021 streamed for an average of 56 minutes per stream.

Meanwhile, the top 1000 highest-earning streamers did so for 51 minutes. Just a five minute difference was all it took to separate the top 100 highest-earning streamers from the 1000 highest.

The main point is that the streamers making the most amount of money on Tango were streaming for around an hour. It is important to point out though that many of these “high earners” have been streaming for a long time by now. As a result, they tend to have a lot of followers.

Before we go on and show you how much a new streamer earns based on streaming time, we need to make sure everyone understands monetization on Tango.

learn from the Chart

So what can we learn just from looking at this chart? Clearly the hour mark makes a significant difference when it comes to earning money.

When streamers go for longer than an hour they’re earning nearly 3 times as much money as those who stop before the hour. Those Tango streamers have the potential to earn upwards of 3,000 diamonds in just a single day.

Based on this data, someone who streams for several hours 2 days in a row has the possibility of already making their first $25 redemption. That’s money that you earn without having to invest in equipment, or even pay any money for a website or anything else. It’s money being earned right away, and it’s just the beginning.

So Why Aren’t People Streaming Longer?

The first and main reason is that if you’re just starting out, it takes time to learn how to stream. At the beginning you’re just going to be learning the basics and getting comfortable being in front of the camera. Over time, as you get more relaxed and confident, streaming longer will come more naturally.

The second reason is that, at the beginning, you’re not going to have a loyal fan base. Sure, people will filter in and out of your stream, but they likely aren’t going to stay long, especially if they don’t see anybody else watching your stream too (group psychology also works in live streaming).

So what happens to most early streamers?

They get discouraged, they feel stupid or awkward, and so they turn off the stream and go do something else. Rather than just sticking to it for another hour, they give up on that potential money when they don’t have to.

How to Stream for More Time

There’s really no secret trick to this, all you have to do is not turn off the camera during your stream (duh). Easier said than done of course, but that really is the number one rule.

In order to keep your stream rolling, and keep the money and followers flowing your way, we’ve gone ahead and compiled a few easy steps in order to help you lengthen your stream without it feeling too awkward.

Prepare and Practice Before Going Live

Rather than just trying to wing it and hoping for the best, you’re much better off if you take the time to prepare and practice. Write down what you want to say and do in your stream, then say it in front of the mirror.

You don’t necessarily have to do an entire hour’s worth of streaming, but just having a game plan is going to make everything much easier than doing streaming improv.

Make it a show

Rather than streaming the same thing for hours on end, you can break your live-stream into segments. For instance, you could include challenges, giveaways, a dance routine, or a quiz show. You could also set up a discussion on what you are streaming about or the video that you are playing.

Add value to what you are doing

When it comes to long hours of streaming, it is important to keep your fans entertained since at the end of the day, they are investing their time in you.

One way you can do this is by showing your viewers that there is a reason why you are doing what you are doing. For instance, you could add value to your stream by supporting a charity, in which case you will end up attracting new viewers who are looking to rally behind somebody who is live-streaming for a good cause.

Don’t be afraid to take breaks

If, for instance, you have decided to challenge yourself with a 24-hour live stream, then taking well-deserved breaks will help you to keep going. You can take a break to have a snack or water to keep you energized. You can take a 15-minute break, during which you can leave your audience to play a mini-game or to answer open-ended questions until you return.

Conclusion

There are a ton of ways to lengthen your stream time and earn extra money. One of the most important things to remember though is not to let yourself get burnt out doing this. Ultimately, it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

At the beginning you’re going to have a ton of motivation. If you start streaming for hours and hours at the beginning you’ll eventually get tired. Figure out a way to incorporate streaming into your daily life and you’ll have a much easier and enjoyable time accomplishing your streaming goals!

Q&A

What is the world’s longest stream?

According to Guinness World Records the longest stream ever lasted 259 hours, 46 minutes and 45 seconds – over 10 days! This was accomplished by Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (China) in Chongqing, China, from 16 to 27 December 2020.

Does Tango have a time limit?

Unlike other streaming apps, Tango does not have a time limit for streaming. You are able to stream for as long as you want without interruption. If you do exit out of your stream you will lose whatever audience you’ve gained during that session, meaning that you’re better off staying in one stream for a lengthy period of time.

How many days a week should you stream?

If you’re looking to get financial support as an artist then you need to be streaming at least 3 hours a day everyday. That being said, we would recommend that you stream for as much as you feel comfortable with, and no longer. If your schedule only allows for 3 days then do that. However, the best results are generally found after someone has streamed between 5-7 days a week.

What’s better, live streaming videos, or blogs?

According to the site, Livestream, 80% of people would rather watch a live stream than read a blog. This means that content creators and other marketers would do better investing their time and energies into this new platform, rather than trying to compete in older and probably more oversaturated forms of content and marketing.

Live Battles

If there’s one thing we can’t recommend enough, it would be live streaming battles. Not only are they tons of fun, but they give streamers the opportunity to meet other streamers, find a wider audience, and make even more money than they would on their own! What’s not to like about any of that?

Here’s how it works:

  • Once you go live, check the bottom of the screen for the VS button.
  • After clicking it, you will be shown a list of users who are Live, or who are following you.
  • When you click on one of the streamers, they will be given an invite to join your stream.
  • Once joined you can set up a battle. In the settings section, you can change the duration of the battle to anywhere from 3 minutes to an hour.
  • Battles are determined by fans, who give gifts to their favorite streamer.
  • The winner of the battle gets an additional 20% of their earnings added to their winnings.

Battles are highly recommended. Not only are they fun, but it gives you a chance to meet other streamers, some of whom can be your best friends or greatest resources for thinking of new content.

Additionally, finding a streamer with lots of viewers gives them a chance to see your stream as well. Who knows? If they like what they see they might start following you, helping you build an even bigger broadcasting audience!

Common Battle Questions:

What happens if someone leaves the battle early?

A: Then you automatically win! Congrats!

Can a battle end in a tie?

A: Yes

Followers vs Subscribers

Followers and subscribers are a great way to know if your content is resonating with people, or if you might need to change your approach.

However, there is a big difference between the two, and it’s important that you know it:

Followers:

These are the people who like what you’re streaming enough to want to be there when you go live. Once someone follows you they’ll see your stream every time you’re live after they check their “following” section on the app.

Additionally, followers can message you on Tango’s instant messaging feature (more on that later). If you follow them back, then the two of you can communicate privately via phone calls or video calls. This is another way to connect with your fans in a way that is even more personal than talking with them on live streaming!

Subscribers:

These are your #1 fans. Not only do they love what you’re broadcasting, but they’re also paying you 700 diamonds a month in order to be the first to see what you’re doing!

Subscribers get to see all of your premium content, including your happy moments on your premium screens! In fact, we recommend doing premium content and inviting only your subscribers. Something we’ll get into in the next section!

Premium broadcast

Think of a premium broadcast as an exclusive broadcast for some of your best content. Unlike traditional streaming, premium content can either be blocked with a paywall or by invite only. There are 2 ways of setting up a premium broadcast:

1. At the start of the stream:

  • After you’ve started the stream, click on The Key icon (on the left)
  • Set an entry fee gift (can be as inexpensive or expensive as you want).
  • Invite whoever you want to join the premium broadcast

2. From a public stream:

  • Start your broadcast
  • Select the Key icon at the bottom of the screen
  • You can either select all, to invite everyone in your stream to join, or pick specific viewers.

Congratulations! You’ve now started a premium broadcast. This is a fantastic opportunity to earn more money from your most loyal viewers. While in the premium broadcast you can still get gifts meaning your potential for earning is significantly higher!

Happy Moments

Happy moments are exactly that – some of the happiest moments on the app! It’s when you get the biggest gifts from the most excited fans!

Anytime a fan gives you a gift worth over 500 coins your reaction will be recorded!

Your happy moments will be recorded automatically and will be visible on your profile page. Any happy moments recorded while in premium will only be available to your subscribers.

Admins Power

Like with every social app, there are annoying spammers and trolls who may disrupt your live stream. Thankfully, Tango allows you the ability to kick people out of your streams whenever you’d like.

Well, that’s great and all, but what if you’re dancing or doing some kind of performance that doesn’t allow you to be monitoring your messages all the time?

In that case, you can make a friend an administrator. When selecting a moderator, just click on your friend’s name. After that, all you have to do is click the “set as moderator” button when it pops up.

Messages and Feed

Tango allows you to interact with your fans and followers when you’re not livestreaming as well. This can be done through your messages and feed. You’re probably familiar with this if you’ve used any other type of social media app in the past.

The messages and feed allow you to:

  • Post status updates
  • Make announcements
  • Share photos and videos of yourself or your interests
  • Communicate directly with individual followers

A successful streamer will utilize these terrific tools in order to promote themselves and stand out. Let’s use this as an example: say you’re going to perform a new song you wrote. You can easily create a poster promoting your new song on a website like Canva, download it, and post it onto your newsfeed on Tango!

But don’t just stop there. Take the time to reach out to your biggest fans and gifters on Tango’s messaging feature so they know when to go online and support your performance. Take a moment to write a personal message, telling them how excited you are to see them in your stream at a specific time. Then, send it!

While you’re at it, you can even create a sneak peek of what you’re going to perform as well. Simply make a 15-second video recording of you playing a few notes from your new song and post it onto your feed. Fans and followers can like, comment, and share it just like in traditional social media.

The difference – now you’ve gotten them excited about your performance that they get to be a part of!

In order to make sure that you’re getting the money you deserve, you need to create an account with Payoneer. This is actually quite simple and can be accomplished in a few quick steps:

  1. Once you’ve earned 5,000 diamonds go to redeem.
  2. Click cash out.
  3. You’ll be taken to the Payoneer website automatically where you’ll be asked to fill out your
  4. Personal information
  5. Residential information
  6. Create a password and security question
  7. Enter your bank account information
  8. After you’ve filled everything out check your email for the confirmation notice that Payoneer has sent.
  9. Finally, you’re ready to cash out – go to cash out and, if prompted, click the button that says Already have a Payoneer account? and fill out your information.

Congratulations! You’re ready to collect your cash. You should see the money in your account within 24-72 hours. If not, contact the Tango Support Team.

Just a reminder that you can only withdraw up to $2,000 a day. Happy spending!

8. Audio-Only Broadcasts

Don’t feel like live streaming on video? No problem! Tango makes live streaming easy and comfortable no matter how you’re feeling.

If you wish to stream without video, head to the settings just do the following steps:

  1. Click the “Go Live” button
  2. Head to settings – click “turn off camera”
  3. Start your stream!

It really is that simple. Obviously, live streaming without video has its limitations but also its advantages as well. If you’re the type of person who simply enjoys talking, then having an audio-only broadcast might work out well for you. Many broadcasters have found tremendous success, all without the use of a camera.

Just one final note: your happy moments will not be recorded when you’re in audio-only mode since happy moments rely on a video reaction.

9. Blocking / Reporting

With over 400 million users on Tango, we can’t expect that you would get along with everyone.

If someone is bothering you in any way – spamming during your stream, being rude or inappropriate, or harassing other users – you can always add them to your block list. This will prevent them from being able to call you, message you, or enter your stream and disrupting your creative process.

How do you add someone to the block list? Well, it’s actually super simple. First, you click on the person’s name which will bring you to their profile. Afterward, click the three-dot icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. From there you’ll be given the option to block them which will also immediately remove them from your stream.

Typically our moderation teams will monitor the streams and make sure that any inappropriate behavior is stopped before it gets out of control. However, we can’t be at all places at all times and, as a result, it may fall to you to clean up your stream when things get out of hand. We apologize in advance and, just know, that we do take any blockings very seriously.

There’s also reporting, which is more for users. If you see some inappropriate content on Tango please report it to us in the same way you would for a block.

If, by chance, you think someone deserves a second chance you can always unblock them by clicking on your profile and clicking on “Blocked Users.” Afterward, you’ll be brought to the “Manage Block List” screen where you can remove blocks on people if you want.

10. Referral Program

Part of building your own business is having your own employees
so to speak. While you don’t need to hire anybody to work on your stream, Tango offers a referral program that allows streamers and users to earn money for every person that they bring to Tango!

It’s much better than a one-time payment as well, and it’s a great way for streamers to earn lots more cash if they’re willing to put in the work. Once you refer someone, you will collect 10% of whatever they earn while streaming for the next 2 years!

There are 2 things you can do about that:

The first is to let them do their own stream and just hope they find success.

The second is guiding them, giving them advice, and partnering up together during streams. After all, the more they earn, the more you earn as well! So why not take a little extra time to make sure they’re doing well?

Artists Program

Tango supports its artists, and we want to do everything we can to help you succeed. This includes giving you additional financial support as well as making sure that your streams are always seen first by potential users!

We’ve written a lot about the Artists Program in previous blog posts which you can read about here. Basically, though, you can earn extra money and move up levels depending on how many hours you stream your talent.

Conclusion

Being a successful streamer requires more than just turning on a camera and performing. It requires a plan and using every tool that Tango offers. The more you stream and become familiar with the platform, the better your chances of are accomplishing your goal – whether that’s earning money or growing your fan base like never before!

  • Enjoy more exciting streams! (fans)

Seriously? All of that in one feature?

Yes. Seriously.

These are just some of the reasons why Tango’s battle feature is one of the most popular on the platform… and in live streaming in general.

In this post, we’re going to go even deeper about live streaming battles: what they are, why they’re great, and how to have them. It’s a post that streamers and viewers alike will not want to miss!

What are live streaming battles?

Tango livestreaming battles are always between up to 4 streamers. Both streamers go head-to-head in a live battle where they compete to earn the most coins for between 3-60 minutes.

During that time streamers dance, perform, or otherwise engage with their audience.

The fans, in response, choose who the winner will be by sending gifts to their favorite streamer!

Whichever streamer has the most gifts at the end of the time is the winner. As a bonus for their victory, Tango gives the winner an additional 20% of whatever they earned during the battle!

Why are live streaming battles so important?

Not only are they more fun than a regular day of streaming, but battles help in almost every aspect of live streaming.

Popularity

Whether you’re brand new to the platform, or already have millions of diamonds to your name, battles are one of the best ways to increase your popularity.

When you go head-to-head against another streamer you get the opportunity to meet their fans and have their audience meet you. This is why it’s not uncommon to see battles filled with hundreds of viewers at one time!

If they like your talent, they might just start following you as well. Congrats! You’re blowing up on Tango now.

Earn More

IF you’re getting more fans then you’re most likely getting more diamonds during your streams. But that’s not the only reason why you’re likely to earn more during battles.

Since battles are competitive, they’re naturally more exciting than you’re average stream. Loyal fans who like your streams will likely feel more excited to give you more gifts to make sure that you come out on top.

As we mentioned above, the winner of the battle gets a 10% bonus for whatever they won during that battle. If you didn’t win, that’s okay too! You still get to keep everything you earned during that battle.

Meet New Streamers

Who says that only viewers get the chance to meet and see streamers? Battles allow you to connect with other streamers in a more personal way by being able to have a live video chat with them while streaming.

Meeting new streamers is not only a ton of fun, but it also exposes you to how other streamers are doing things, potentially giving you new ideas to be inspired by!

Finally, connecting with other streamers allows for one of the best types of live streaming: collaboration. Performing with someone else makes everything far more enjoyable than going at it alone.

Connect With Your Fans

Tango’s newest battle feature allows you to pick a fan to do a live battle against. Imagine how one of your top fans would feel knowing that you want to stream with them!

Just know that the two of you have to be following each other in order to use this feature. It’s a great way to not only get to know your fans a bit better but also to have an exciting battle that you’re (probably) going to win.

More Exciting Streams

One of the things that make live streams so exciting is having many diverse streams for audiences to enjoy. Fans will likely agree that including other streamers is a great way to make content that they will enjoy.

How to have a live battle

Starting a live battle is super easy:

  1. Start by going live.
  2. Click the Battles button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Choose who you want to go live with.
  4. Invite them to go to a battle. If they accept you will start streaming together.
  5. Select the button at the bottom right-hand corner with the three dots.
  6. Select settings. Pick which battle settings you want.
  7. Let the battle begin!

But just choosing to have a live battle is…half the battle
knowing how to have a battle is just as important.

One of the best things you can do about having a live battle is picking a time with a friend to go live.

Once you both have a time that works for both of you, start promoting it on your feed in advance!

Reach out to your biggest gifters and ask them to be there. The battle will be way more fun if gifts start flying!

Go live an hour or two before the battle begins. As people come into your stream make sure to remind them of when the battle is taking place.

During the battle, it’s your time to show your best moves! Don’t hold anything back and give your audience a show that they’ll love!

Conclusion

Once you start having battles, you’ll understand why they’re one of the most popular features that Tango has to offer.

They’re fun, they’re a great way to improve your streams, and they’ll most likely earn you much more than you’d make on your own!

No matter if you win or lose, there’s something to be gained from battling. So what are you waiting for? May the best streamer win!

Start on Tango App

If you enjoy live streaming elsewhere, starting out fresh on Tango Live may seem like a challenging task at first.

Fears of starting out on the wrong foot are common, and even justified, as many streamers find it difficult to adjust and succeed in a new platform.

Thankfully, there are many different ways to become popular as a live streamer when you’re on Tango – and below are some tips on how to succeed on Tango Live as you start a new chapter in livestreaming:

Social Media

This is where being an experienced live streamer pays off! Try and get as many of your previous viewers to come and watch you on Tango during this transitionary time. Take advantage of your social media channels and hype up your arrival to Tango as much as you can. Make sure no one is left unaware of when you’re going live.

If you’re active on social media, in addition to your livestreaming, you might even get new viewers who had not thought of ever watching you live until they saw your post about it. This is a vital tool at your disposal and there is no reason not to use it to have an easier start.

Choose wisely: Time when you go Live

The time in which you choose to go live plays an important role in how many people will be watching your streams.

Therefore, it is very important to understand when users are most and least active. As tempting as it may be, you may not want to stream during the most active time globally right away.

Keep in mind that initially, you’re relatively unknown on Tango, as a result, the most active times will be dominated by established stars, and you’ll be unlikely to bring new viewers who will discover your new stream.

Right after getting started, it is best to start streaming between 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM GMT. Within this time slot, most stars do not stream, so it is easier for a newcomer like yourself to gain a loyal audience. For the first month, your key task is to get as many viewers and fans as possible.

Once you’re established with an initial audience, and some valuable experience, start streaming at different times to gain new fans in different time zones.

It’s most beneficial to stream at the hottest times in the different regions of the world. Once you’ve made a name for yourself, stream at a time when two or more regions are active – this can make you a Tango superstar in no time!

The Best time for your Live Streams in different regions are:

Best Time to go Live

You can make a good deal of money with live streaming any day of the week. With that in mind, on average, there is a gradual increase in activity from Monday to Thursday, followed by a gradual decline. On Sunday, there are fewer users than on any other day.

These two simple, yet effective, actions can help you transition seamlessly into the Tango live streaming experience. Use these, and you’ll be a Tango Live superstar in no time!
